Education

“Education as one of the main community empowerments builds future generations to better participate in economic, social, political leadership in the 21st Century”

According to Nelson Mandela, education is “the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. Therefore, Gadi’s education program is one of the most important core activities of our association. It includes, in particular, advisory services. The main stakeholders of our educational programs are students. In order to increase the success and effectiveness of our programs, we have expanded the circle of beneficiaries to include African high school graduates. In this way, GADI aims to orientate high school graduates in the right choice of training or studies at an early stage, thus minimizing study drop-outs.

In addition to advisory services, GADI also offers information events for families (parents and students) about study and training programs and career opportunities for young people.

The education program focuses on 3 pillars:

  1. Orientation on the choice of the training

If you want to find a job in Germany, a good alternative to studying at university is taking part in a vocational training program. These training programs usually last between one and three-and-a-half years.  They are either school-based and take place solely in a classroom (“schulische Ausbildung”) or combine classes with practical training in an establishment or company (“Duale Ausbildung”). This chapter provides you with detailed information and useful links on school-based vocational training. To find out more about dual vocational training programs, check our chapter “Dual Vocational Training”.

Upon completion of a vocational training program, you become a skilled worker (“qualifizeierte Fachkraft”). Skilled workers are in demand in Germany and earn more money for their work compared to unskilled workers. So, completing a vocational training program may constitute an important step towards building a career in Germany.
